Meet Shak – the chief Nudl, whose vision of putting the fun into funding set the whole Nudl ball rolling…

I’ve been working to support businesses with grants for 20 years now, and, I have to be honest, I’m well aware it’s not the most exciting of industries – that’s why I’m committed to putting the fun into funding.

My mission is simple; to offer businesses easy, straightforward access to grants, saving them valuable time and helping them achieve their dreams – the financial ones at least.

I started my career working for my parents’ business portfolio, building up my experience before setting up my own venture in mid 2000. From there, I went on to work in growth and investment for a number of major organisations.

Oh, and I’ve also combined my 20-year career in business growth with my other true love – music. My first official job was as a DJ, and I’ve been lucky enough to work with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Drake and Kanye West – I told you I was all about the fun!

Although I can’t begin to tell you some of the weird and wonderful things I’ve seen while DJing; watching a room full of drunken people from that vantage point is very illuminating!

Although, if we’re sharing here, I am still slightly gutted that I never made it in my first dream job – as a pro basketball player…

Away from work, I’m a Teessider born and bred; while my work has taken me around the world, the North East will always be home to me.

Music continues to be incredibly important to me, and in my downtime you will find me either listening to it, making it, playing instruments or DJing.

I’m also a massive petrol head and love my cars and motorcycles; I’ve already ticked one item off my bucket list when I bought my Harley Davidson.

I pride myself of being straightforward and creative, and that’s my approach to Nudl too; people still see funding and finance as dull and worthy, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I always like to ask clients what their dream (business) shopping list is, before telling them how we’re going to get items ticked off – just like my Harley.
