Award-winning video production and visual content marketing creators Wander Films has had a total revamp, thanks to funding secured by Nudl.

Set up in July 2018, Wander Films has grown to a team of 15 and moved premises from its former base at Boho 5 to a self-contained building on Albert Road, Middlesbrough.

The company has spent just under £50,000, with 55% of the funding coming from grant funding secured by Nudl. So far, they have received around £13,000-14,000 of the funding with the remainder expected early in the new year.

The investment has been used on the infrastructure of the new premises, interior design, IT and edit PC equipment for new members of staff and a branding redesign.

“We moved into our new premises in May/June,” said Lou Tonner, co-founder, COO and CEO of Wander Films.

“We had to get a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) so we are sorted if there’s a power cut. With the team growing, we used an interior designer to make the most of the new space. That was necessary for the extra people and the extra services we provide. It was an empty shell when we moved into it. The interior designer helped us maximise the space and studio suite.”

The soft rebrand has seen the company drop the “Films” from its logo as the business has expanded into other areas aside from filming.

The team is also expanding, with three new roles expected to join Wander Films in 2023.

“Having Nudl sort all the funding and applications for us has meant we can focus on our growth and be ready for 2023,” added Lou.

“Our experience with Nudl was incredible.

“With moving into a new studio, in fact, the whole last year has been nuts for us so we wouldn’t have had the time to do it ourselves. When we first started, I applied for funding direct so I know how long it takes. Shak and the team took us through the application step by step and kept us up to date with its progress.

“We would 100% recommend Nudl to others. In fact, we have already recommended Nudl to a lot of our friends in business and clients as well. It is so much easier and takes away the whole headache of trying to secure funding yourself.”
